Car wrapping

Car wrapping

Car wrapping, also known as car wrapping, is an excellent alternative to repainting your vehicle. The flexible film serves a protective function while also allowing you to change the color of your car's exterior. Moreover, the application of the film is not a permanent change. You can remove the film at any time and return to the original paint. The film can cover the entire surface of the car or specific body elements, such as the hood or bumper. Tips

  • Car wrapping with film allows you to achieve not only a new car color but also a new texture, such as matte or carbon-like.

  • A car wrapped with film is less prone to chips and scratches, which is crucial for daily use.

  • Clear film can also protect the car's paint.

  • The price of car wrapping service and the film is lower than repainting the vehicle.

  • The car must be thoroughly washed and cleaned of rust spots, corrosion, or brake dust before wrapping.

  • Car wrapping helps maintain the car's high value.

  • Cheap films are not suitable for paint protection, as they wrinkle and crack in the sun, and cannot be stretched. They are suitable only for short-term advertising wraps.

  • Renowned cast films are recommended for changing the car's color or protecting the paint as they perfectly conform to the car's curves.

  • Many drivers opt for PPF (Paint Protection Film) wrapping. These types of films are extremely durable, and any scratches (e.g., from a car wash) disappear under the influence of heat.

  • You can also wrap your car with a clear protective film without changing the car's paint color.

  • The film is applied with heat, "wrapping" the entire paint surface, and then smoothing it with squeegees.

Is it worth wrapping the entire car? It depends on the desired effects. Wrapping your car to change the paint color and protect the bodywork usually makes sense because the cost of wrapping is significantly lower than repainting. Additionally, the film itself provides protection against paint damage. However, it's essential to remember that car wrapping has its pros and cons. One of the cons might be lower resistance to chemicals.

How much does car wrapping cost?

The cost of changing the car's color or protecting specific vehicle parts with wrapping depends on the scope of work. Wrapping individual elements such as bumpers, hoods, or roof parts is much cheaper than wrapping the entire car. The cost of wrapping the entire car's body usually ranges from around 3,000 to 10,000 PLN. What does the price depend on? Mainly on the car's size, but not only. The cost of car wrapping is also influenced by the number and shape of individual elements, which affects the duration of the process. In some cases, the cost might include additional expenses for repairing the paint because although the film covers minor imperfections, it cannot be applied over large defects.

Can you pressure wash a wrapped car?

Washing a wrapped vehicle is not fundamentally different from washing an unpainted car. In both cases, hand washing using the "two-bucket method" with a soft microfiber glove is recommended. Active foam can also be used, but it should be a gentle cosmetic product, preferably with a neutral pH. Aggressive and strong cleaning agents could cause streaks, discoloration, or damage to the film. It's essential to avoid using hard brushes and sponges to prevent scratching the surface. The material used for films is relatively soft and less resistant to damage than car paint. Therefore, accidentally damaging parts of the car is easier.

Particular attention should also be paid to car washes. It is recommended to avoid washing the wrapped vehicle in automatic car washes with rotating brushes. They are filled with contaminants that could cause damage. Caution is also required at touchless wash stations. The strong pressure from a power washer can damage or even detach sections of the film. To prevent this, the lance should not be directed directly at the film's edges, and the film should not be pressed too close to the car. It is best to rinse contaminants or detergents from a distance with low-pressure water. This way, the risk of damage will be minimal.

How to care for wrapped elements?

Interestingly, a protected car can be maintained similarly to a regular paint finish. The car wrap can be waxed and even machine-polished. There are also dedicated car care products available for vehicles that have undergone wrapping. It's especially advisable to use these products for matte surfaces. Ordinary automotive cosmetics could leave greasy, shiny streaks on matte finishes.
